Up for sale, a 1987 Charvel by Jackson Model 3 electric guitar in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made at the Chu Shin factory in Japan, the renowned Model series was introduced in 1986 and marked an era of high-quality, competitive overseas-made shredders. This top-notch Charvel features a bolt-on quartersawn rock maple neck, a thick slab rosewood fingerboard, and a gloss Pearl White finish on the basswood body. The bridge pickup is a Jackson J90C ultra high-output, distortion class humbucker with an accentuated low frequency response and upper harmonics for powerful laser-beam leads. The pair of single coils are Jackson J100s, delivering classic Strat tones in the neck and middle positions. The five-way blade pickup selector switch offers a variety of voicing options via the HSS pickup configuration, from snappy single coil spank to roaring high gain drive. Weighing 9lbs 3oz, this Charvel has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, spot-on intonation, and fast action.
The quartersawn rock maple neck has a slender and fast-feeling C shaped profile with slight shoulders, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .880” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features a compound 12-16” radius, dot inlay, and pristine original jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays well in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 25 1/2“, and the locking nut measures 1 11/16” in width, holding pitch exceptionally well against the most dynamic of dives with the stock Kahler Fulcrum tremolo system. On the black headstock, the original black Jackson-branded Gotoh-made tuners are present and turn smoothly.
All of the electronics work as they should, with Master Volume and Tone knobs, and a five-way pickup selector switch governing the Jackson HSS pickup array. Cosmetically, the gloss Pearl White finish is particularly clean with very yellowing of the clear coat. Aside from a bit of scuffing on the treble side of the pick path, the guitar is clean as can be with a pristine black gloss finish on the neck profile.
A faux leather gigbag is included.
