Up for sale, a 1987 Charvel by Jackson Model 2M in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. Produced at the Chu Shin factory in Japan as part of a licensing agreement between IMC and Jackson/Charvel, this no-frills Superstrat features a Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo and a vibrant gloss Red finish.
The locking tremolo differentiates the Model 2 from the Model 1; this is the maple fretboard 2M variant, much rarer than the standard rosewood-equipped model. Plugged in, the sound is immediate and clear, with the bright articulation inherent to the maple fretboard, providing an ideal acoustic platform for the J90C ceramic magnet humbucker. This high-output humbucker is built to shred, offering high gain crunch for monster chording and white-hot melodic playing. Weighing 8lbs 6oz, this Model 2M has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple (quartersawn)
-Shape: Slender D, measuring .750" 1st fret, .910" 12th fret
-Fretboard: Maple, 22-fret, 12”-16” compound radius
-Fretwire: Jumbo, leveled/crowned, no wear
-Scale: 25 1/2"
-Nut: 1 11/16", locking (on peghead)
-Tuners: Gotoh SG38
Body Specs:
-Wood: Basswood
-Pickup: Jackson J90C x1
-Harness: Pot dates to January, 1987
-Control: Volume
-Hardware: Takeuchi TRS-101 Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo (replacement), dome-top knurled knob
This is a well-kept instrument, with just a few faint marks and finish scratches on the gloss Red finish. The satin finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
A gigbag is included.
