1986 Squier by Fender Stratocaster CST-30 Black w/ Scalloped Neck & USA Custom Shop Pickups, Japan MIJ Fujigen

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 1986 Squier by Fender Stratocaster model CST-30 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, featuring a scalloped maple fretboard and a full suite of electronics upgrades. Made at the Fujigen factory, when quality between the Squier and Fender brands was virtually indistinguishable, this particular model is extremely unusual, essentially mirroring specs for an early Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster. Cosmetic touches include a large ‘70s-style headstock, bullet truss rod nut and three-bolt neck plate, and the electronics comprise a set of USA-made Fender Custom Shop Fat 50s single coil pickups and USA-spec CTS pots.

Tonewoods include a basswood body and a one-piece maple neck, and the Custom Shop Fat 50s pickups have hand-beveled, staggered Alnico V magnets, cloth-covered leads and Formvar magnet wire, designed for a classic Strat tonal palette with an enhanced bass response for maximum richness. The bridge has ample sparkling cut, the neck is bell-like and full, and the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch have a hollow quack. Weighing 7lbs 14oz, this Strat benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
