Up for sale, a 1986 Ibanez Destroyer II model DG555 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Only produced in 1986-87, this is the second (and much rarer) iteration of the Destroyer II platform. The original Destroyer II is widely associated with Def Leppard’s Phil Collen, who played one extensively throughout the band’s heyday and was featured heavily in promotional materials by Ibanez. Produced at the Fujigen Gakki factory, the Destroyer II DG555 is the embodiment of classic, envelope-pushing visual and sonic design of the 1980s, loaded with a trio of high-output Ibanez V2 humbuckers and an Edge tremolo system.

The body is constructed of basswood, with a three-piece maple set neck and a bound rosewood fretboard. The three Ibanez V2 humbuckers can harness massive gain structures, boasting rich harmonic content, great punch and an overall full and bold tonal character. The controls are simple and intuitive, with a three-way pickup toggle and Volume, Blend, and Tone knobs. This Ibanez weighs 9lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss Black finish is framed on top by cream binding, and cosmetic wear is limited to light cloudiness in the clear coat on the treble-side edge at the waist and just a scant few faint finish scratches and tiny nicks on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and perimeter at the body points. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.

The original hardshell case with form-fit interior is included.
