Up for sale, a 1986 Fender Boxer Series Precision Bass model PB-555 in perfect working order, 100% original save for a set of knurled knobs. A rarely seen model only available from 1986-87, this P Bass features a *pair* of slanted split-coil Hot Rod P-4D pickups and a sleek Black gloss finish. Made at the famed Fujigen factory and designed to be sold only in the Japanese domestic market, this bass hails from the golden age of "Made in Japan" Fender production. While the body mimics the traditional P Bass shape, and body edges are notably rounded, with a gentle forearm contour on top for added comfort. The bass features an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard for a smooth, balanced natural acoustic response.

Strung with 45-100 roundwound strings, the plugged-in tone is round and punchy. Each pickup has a dedicated Volume knob, with a three-way mini toggle pickup selector between the Volume knobs. The furthest knob back is a center-detent Tone knob and the additional two-way mini toggle is quite unique. It bypasses the typical three-way pickup selector and engages just the center two coils. Both Volumes are still active, so the player can control the blend between the E/A string poles and the G/D string poles. This PB-555 weighs 8lbs 1oz, benefitting from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
