Up for sale, a 1986 Fender Stratocaster ‘72 vintage reissue model ST72-115 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. One of the shortest lived top-tier models hailing from the golden age of “Made in Japan” production at the Fujigen factory, the ST72-115 was only available from 1986-87. Features include USA-made pickups, CTS pots, and a gloss Black finish.
Tonewoods include an ash body with a maple neck capped by a rosewood fretboard, and the trio of Fender’s American Vintage 57/62 single coils feature vintage-spec construction with black fiber bobbins, push-back cloth-covered leads and staggered (unbeveled) alnico magnets. The ash body provides a certain note attack and midrange kick, and via the five-way pickup selector, this Strat offers a vocal-like sparkling snap in the bridge position, with various shades of quack and bell-like cut when toggling towards the neck. This ST72-115 weighs 9lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
