Up for sale, a 1985 Yamaha SFX-II in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This rare Yamaha model was only produced from 1985-88, designed in collaboration with legendary Japanese guitarist Kyoji Yamamoto, frontman for one of Japan’s first-ever (and longest lasting) metal/hard rock bands, Bow Wow. This first-year SFX-II features a pair of splittable Power Guerilla I humbuckers, a Rockin’ Magic II tremolo, and gold-plated hardware.
Tonewoods comprise an arched basswood body, a set mahogany neck, and a rosewood fretboard. The Power Guerilla I humbuckers feature rail pole pieces, delivering thick, warm tones, aggressive low-mids, and singing trebles. These humbuckers take gain notably well, retaining excellent definition, and the push/push global coil tap enables single coil sparkle and snap. Weighing 8lbs 12oz, this SFX-1 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
