1985 Fender Stratocaster ST314-60 Medium Scale SSS Vintage Electric Guitar Olympic White, Japan MIJ Fujigen

Up for sale, a 1985 Fender ST314-60 Stratocaster Medium Scale electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A very rare model briefly produced during the "Made in Japan" golden age of Fender Japan production, this Stratocaster boasts a slightly more compact 24 3/4" scale length. The basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab 22 fret rosewood fretboard provide a balanced, smooth-sounding tonewood platform, while the trio of alnico magnet single coils have plenty of snap and chime. The original pickups are intact in the middle and bridge positions, while the neck pickup has been upgraded with a USA-made Dimarzio HS-3. A pickup often seen in Fender's Yngiwie Malmsteen models, and a single coil perfectly tailored for classical metal, the HS-3 pairs perfectly with heavy gain, offering a sweet, detailed overdriven tone. The guitar weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a very slender C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .785” deep at the 1st fret and .880” at the 12th. The slab 22 fret rosewood board is a thick, dark cut of this particular tonewood, featuring a modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius with dot inlay and original medium jumbo fretwire. The frets are flawless, and  the guitar plays easily in every register with a contoured neck heel for effortless access to the highest frets. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The scale length is 24 3/4“ (identical to Gibson), and the nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock retains the original Gotoh tuning machines which function smoothly. The E-prefix serial number is on the neck heel just above the four-bolt neck plate with micro-tilt adjustment, and the headstock has microscopic "Made in Japan" text below the Stratocaster model name. The neck heel is pencil dated 12-26-1985.

The electronics function as intended with a five-way pickup selector switch and traditional Volume/Tone/Tone control layout governing the trio of single coils. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine and surface patina across the saddles, and the white plastic parts are clean with aged pickup covers and knobs. The vibrato actuates easily with a full-size block, complete with the original arm. There is very faint aging in the clear coat of the gloss on the Olympic White finish, and cosmetic wear includes pick scuffing across the strum path, extending beyond the pickguard at the bass-side waist, and a few minor nicks and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile finish is a smooth ambered gloss.

The original faux leather Fender-branded gigbag is included.
