Up for sale, a 1985 Fender Stratocaster ‘72 vintage reissue model ST72-65 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production, this early “Made in Japan” Strat has an A-prefix serial on the neck plate, featuring a Ritchie Blackmore aesthetic with black plastic pickup covers and knobs accenting a white pickguard. This Stratocaster was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is uncommon outside its country of origin.

Tonewoods include a basswood body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard, and this Strat weighs 7lbs 13oz. The trio of ST-Current alnico magnet single coils deliver classic Strat tonalities at each position on the five-way pickup selector switch: the neck pickup has a bell-like chime and warmth, the bridge position yields sparkling twang, and the “in-between” positions have a hollow quack. This Stratocaster ST72-65 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The clear coat has a rich cream hue, and cosmetic wear on the gloss Olympic White finish includes a number of dings and finish scratches on the body as a whole, most prominent on the bass side of the top and along the lower bout perimeter. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, with a few shallow marks central to the carve that are virtually undetectable to the palm.

The original gigbag is included.
