1985 Fender Katana Vintage Electric Guitar Pearl White 100% Original w/ Case, Japan MIJ Fujigen

Up for sale, a 1985 Fender Katana in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with a Pearl White gloss finish and original hardshell case. A rare and short-lived Fender Japan model only available from 1985-86, this model's tenure was so brief that it didn't even make it into the catalog in the years it was offered. The brainchild of Fender's marketing director Dan Smith, the Katana is a shred-centric model clearly made to compete with the Randy Rhodes V and other pointy models of the era, produced by Fender Japan in the famed Fujigen factory. The stock humbucker pair is wired to a Master Volume and TBX Tone control, and these pickups are engineered for clarity and punch in high gain scenarios. The Katana weighs 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.The maple neck has a medium C profile carve with round shoulders, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard has small triangular position markers and nigh flawless original medium jumbo fretwire, playing cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42.5mm (just shy of 1 11/16") in width, just forward of the locking nut, and the arrow-shaped headstock retains the tool kit on the back, with Fender Japan-branded Gotoh tuners and a B-prefix serial number.The electronics are untouched, and the controls are capped with the original F-embossed knob pair. The System I vibrato unit has a two-point pivot, roller saddles, and all original fine tuners with gleaming chrome plating. The Pearl White gloss finish has a silver accent on the treble side body edge, and this Katana is exceedingly well-kept. Cosmetic wear is limited to one minor finish chip on the bass-side body tip and just a few additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.The original black tolex hardshell case with form fit blue plush interior is included.
