Up for sale, a 1985 Fender Boxer Series Precision Bass model PB-555 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A rarely seen model only produced from ‘84 to ‘87, this Boxer Series P Bass features a pair of slanted Hot Rod P-4D split-coil pickups and a contoured body with rounded edges for added comfort.
Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard, and this PB-555 weighs 8lbs 14oz. Plugged in, the pair of Hot Rod P-4D split-coil pickups are round and punchy, with great inherent warmth, pillowy thump, and sweet treble articulation. The center detent Master Tone knob enables slight Boost capabilities from 5-10, and the two-way mini-toggle is a unique control that engages the central two coils (one from each pickup), with both Volume controls active, enabling very precise blending of the E/A string poles and G/D string poles. This PB-555 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
