Up for sale, a 1984 Yamaha SG1300-24 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Known as the "Les Paul Killer" for numerous, very good reasons, the Yamaha SGs are incredibly well-crafted, soulful, and powerful-sounding instruments; this rare variant of the platform was designed as a thinner version of the original body profile without sacrificing its predecessor’s punch. Only produced from December 1983 until 1985, the SG1300-24 boasts neck-through construction with a carved maple top and an uncommon two-octave rosewood fretboard (hence the ‘24’ model suffix), perfectly tailored to players seeking a versatile, reliable instrument that rivaled Gibson equivalents.

Lightweight for the series at 8lbs 12oz, this SG1300-24 features a three-piece neck with two pieces of mahogany paired with a central maple section, patented as the T-Cross System. This not only improved the stability of the neck, but also added to the tonal complexity, with features of both tonewoods evident in the sound. The humbuckers are detailed and punchy with great harmonic complexity; the bridge yields focused midrange-centric sizzle, while the neck has a girthy roar, and the dedicated push/push coil taps per humbucker enable single coil sparkle and spank. This SG1300-24 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
