1984 Yamaha GC-21 Vintage Classical Nylon String Guitar w/ Case, Japan

Up for sale, a 1984 Yamaha GC-21 classical guitar, complete with a hardshell fiberglass case. In the 1960s, Yamaha's craftspeople studied under master luthier Eduardo Ferrer of the Torres lineage, passing on his masterful techniques with impressive results. Not to be confused with modern Chinese iterations, this early GC-21 is from the original Japanese-made production run. Expertly crafted, the guitar features a solid Ezo spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck capped with an ebony fingerboard. The guitar responds with great warmth, sweetness, and projection, while maintaining excellent string to string balance and clarity. The guitar weights 3lbs 12oz, professionally setup and strung with fresh normal tension nylon strings here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar.The one-piece mahogany neck has a full D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder, measuring .900” at the 1st fret and .975" at the 9th. The slab ebony fretboard features the original pristine slender fretwire with 12 frets clear of the body. The scale measures a full 25 5/8“, the bone nut measures a full 2” in width, and string spacing at the bridge is 2 1/4". The headstock features a rosewood veneer and stock set of ornate gold strip tuners with ivoroid buttons.On the body, the rosewood bridge sits flush with the top, and the saddle is at its lowest point of adjustment. The spruce top sports rosewood purfling, and the soundhole rosette is ornately inlaid. Visible through the soundhole, the original Made in Japan label is present with serial number, date, and luthier signature. There are a couple small top cracks at the treble side waist that have been professionally repaired with spruce cleats and touched-up. Cosmetically, there are light scattered scuffs and finish scratches on the body, and the gloss has significantly clouded at the back, sides, and neck profile. Aside from the visible cloudiness, the gloss finish on the neck profile is smooth and pristine.A black fiberglass hardshell case is included.
