Up for sale, a 1984 Tokai Love Rock TLC65 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Stemming from the “lawsuit era” of Japanese production, this Tokai is a faithful recreation of a 1957 Les Paul Custom, featuring a solid mahogany body (without a maple cap) loaded with the original pair of PAF-style humbuckers.
The all-mahogany construction yields a certain fundamental warmth and midrange bark, and the instrument has plenty of natural sustain, weighing only 9lbs 1oz. The Goto (not to be confused with Gotoh) “Patent Applied For” humbuckers are, as the name would suggest, wound in the vein of the original PAF, metering around 8k ohms and delivering the sweet, singing clarity and spongy low end of that iconic design. The bridge pickup has bite and bounce, and the neck pickup is full and warm while retaining excellent articulation. This TLC65 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Ebony finish is framed by ambered multi-ply binding, and cosmetic wear includes scuffing along the pick path, modest buckle rash on the back, and a number of minor dings and finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth matching gloss, with a few shallow nicks that have no impact on playability.
A padded gigbag is included.
