Up for sale, a 1984 Ibanez Roadstar II RB850 electric bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted at the Fujigen factory in Japan, the Roadstar is the bolt-on sibling to the venerable Musician line, with the same top quality construction and components. Featuring a gloss White finish over a solid basswood body, slab rosewood fretboard on a three-ply maple neck, and stock pair of Super J6 humbuckers, this Roadstar II bass is versatile rhythmic force. Each pickup can switch between single coil and humbucking operation via the push/pull Master Volume and Master Tone controls, offering a sonic range from massive, burly growl, to focused, articulate midrange burp. Weighing 8lbs 8oz, this Roadstar II has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender and fast-feeling C shaped profile carve with good shoulder in every register, measuring .785” deep at the 1st fret and .850” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard features dot inlay and pristine stock medium jumbo fretwire. The bass plays cleanly in every register up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The scale length is a full 34”, and the nut measures 1 1/2” in width. The headstock features a black Roadstar truss rod cover, gold Ibanez logo, and set of Ibanez VelveTune B II machine heads that live up to their name.On the body, the electronics work as they should with center detent pickup Blend, push/pull Master Volume, and push/pull Master Tone controls for the stock pair of Super J6 pickups. The original black hardware is intact, including the heavy-duty top-loader bridge, trio of knurled knobs, and V-shaped strap buttons. The gloss White finish shows aging of the clear coat with various shades of ambering accenting the body contours. Cosmetic wear is limited to tiny marks and scuffs on the body as a whole consistent with very light, careful use. A padded gigbag is included.
