Up for sale, a 1984 Fender '62 Precision Bass from the famed JV-series in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This bass comprises a fully loaded original 1984 Fender JV series '57 Precision body paired with a more recent "Crafted" era '62 neck from the equivalent model tier. The JV (Japanese Vintage) series instruments were the first vintage reissue models produced by Fender Japan in the very first years that the Japan wing of Fender existed, with this model coming at the tail end of JV production in '84.Produced concurrently with the Fullerton factory Fender reissues in the USA, this JV model has hardware crafted to exacting vintage spec, a black bobbin split coil pickup, gloss Black finish and a very vintage-correct neck profile carve.Extremely accurate to vintage spec and sold only within Japan, this P bass has a resonant alder body and round, dynamic acoustic voice with plenty of broad, muscly tone and pillowy thump through the original black bobbin pickup with raised A string pole pieces. The bass weighs 8lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 45-100 strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a round medium C profile carve with significant heft and shoulder as you travel up the fretboard and lightly rolled edges for added comfort, measuring .825” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. On the rosewood slab fretboard, the original medium jumbo frets are practically perfect, playing cleanly in every register. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, with a full 34" scale length and 1 5/8" wide nut. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. On the headstock, the original tuning machines are intact with full-size baseplates and clover buttons. The replacement neck retains its "Crafted in Japan" text and O-prefix serial number, while the four-bolt neck plate is embossed with its original JV-prefix serial. The electronics function as intended, with untouched solder joints, cloth-covered leads used throughout, full-size pots that date July of '84, and the original black bobbin pickup with raised A pole pieces. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming including the bridge with spiral saddles, knurled chrome knobs, and neck plate with JV-prefix serial number. The pickguard has been upgraded to a glossy genuine nitrate tortoise guard which compliments the gloss Black body finish. Cosmetic wear is limited to some small dings and light finish scratches mostly relegated to the back and body perimeter, while the ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.A new padded Gator gigbag is included.
