Up for sale, a 1983 Yamaha SG1300T in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Only produced from December, 1983 to ‘84, this rare variant of Yamaha’s SG platform was designed to appeal to hard-rocking ‘80s sensibilities, boasting a number of era-centric features including a Rockin’ Magic double-locking tremolo, extra-slender neck profile, streamlined controls, and a pair of Spinex humbuckers. This is a notably early example of the SG1300T, likely among the first off the line.

Known as the "Les Paul Killer" for numerous, very good reasons, the Yamaha SGs are incredibly well-crafted, soulful, and powerful-sounding instruments. Boasting neck through body construction with a carved maple top, this guitar was perfectly tailored to the player seeking an array of classic rock tones, with great versatility and reliability that often exceeded the Gibson equivalents from the same era.

This guitar features a three-piece neck with two pieces of mahogany paired with a central maple section, patented as the T-Cross System. This not only improved the stability of the neck, but also added to the tonal complexity, with features of both tonewoods evident in the sound. The humbuckers are detailed and punchy with great harmonic complexity; the bridge yields focused midrange-centric sizzle, while the neck has a girthy roar, and the push/push coil tap enables single coil sparkle and spank. Lightweight for a Yamaha SG at 8lbs 14oz, this SG1300T has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
