Up for sale, a 1983 Yamaha Broad Bass BB3000 in collector-grade, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case.  Crafted in Japan, the Broad Bass BB3000 features five-ply maple/mahogany neck through construction with alder body wings, yielding a particularly resonant and deep natural response. The stock PJ pickup configuration features the best of two of the most enduringly popular bass pickup designs, with a broad thump via the split coil P pickup and great articulation and upper-midrange presence and burp from the powerful bridge position J-style single coil. This Broad Bass weighs 9lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The five-ply maple/mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with good shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The thick slab ebony fretboard features elliptical pearl inlay, and the medium fretwire only exhibits a hint of wear beneath the strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. This bass plays cleanly up the 33 7/8“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 9/16” in width, made of brass and adding to the instrument's sustain and note articulation. On the headstock, the Yamaha BB3000 logo is present, and the gold-plated tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.

All of the electronics work as they should, with a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls for the pair of stock PJ pickups. The original pair of black speed knobs with grippy, ridged edges are intact, and hardware includes the four saddle bridge with spiral saddles and gold pickup surrounds.

The gloss Metallic Black finish has densely packed, dimensional metalflake, and cosmetic wear on the finish is limited to just a scant few tiny dings and faint scratches on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original hardshell case is included; the case has a spray painted band logo, and all three latches are intact, along with the stock handle.
