Up for sale, a 1983 Maxon OD-9 Overdrive in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Identical in circuitry to the Ibanez-branded version, the OD-9 (branded for Ibanez's parent company Maxon) is a direct descendant of the venerable TS-808 Tube Screamer, featuring an almost identical tonal response. Just a bit brighter and more aggressive than an 808, the OD-9 has sweet, pronounced midrange content, powerful boost capabilities, and smooth overdrive characteristics, delivering a tone that has been endlessly copied.
All controls work as they should and the switch engages easily. The pots have all been sprayed out and turn smoothly too. The circuit is 100% original, featuring the distinctive green resistors and Nichicon capacitors that date to 1983 on the Maxon-branded board. The original JRC4558 chip is intact.
Wear on the bright green enclosure is extremely restrained, with light patina on the stomp switch, clean graphics and original knobs. The original battery cover is present, and the serialized silver foil label is fully intact.
