Up for sale, a 1983 Ibanez Musician MC940 Fretless bass in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced from 1979-87, the Ibanez Musician basses were known for their top-notch quality, used by artists including Sting, U2’s Adam Clayton, and Fleetwood Mac’s John McVie. The MC940 is the fretless version of the flagship MC924, featuring a a full 34" scale length and neck-through construction, boasting a maple/walnut neck and ash body wings with a Dark Stain finish.
The unique tonewood combination results in a complex and rich sound with loads of natural resonance and midrange power, while the slab ebony fretboard balances the top end with ample note attack and treble detail. The Super P5 pickup is a split coil humbucker with a burly, growling sound, and the J5 bridge pickup offers more upper midrange presence and burp. This MC940 weighs 10lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-95 roundwound strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation.
