Up for sale, a 1983 Ibanez Artist AR1200 double neck guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Crafted at Japan's famed Fujigen factory, this double neck Ibanez Artist is an impressive and expertly crafted instrument. With a solid german carved sen ash top, sen ash body, maple necks, bound ebony fretboards, and stock quartet of Super 58 humbuckers, the AR1200 offers a vast control set with an impressive spectrum of sonic options.
The Super 58 pickups are versatile and dynamic, perfect for everything from glassy cleans to singing overdriven leads. And with the Tri-Sound three-way mini toggles offering coils in-series, parallel, or tapped for single coil operation, the sonic range of this model is astounding. The solid ebony fretboard and ash body contribute to the note attack and treble articulation, enabling the 12-string to shimmer and chime. Weighing 12lbs 4oz, this double neck Ibanez has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh D'addario strings, dialed in for slinky action and optimal intonation.
Both maple necks have slender C shaped profile carves with modest shoulder and a hair more depth as you travel up the fingerboards. The 12 string neck profile measures .820" deep at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th, while the 6 string neck measures .800" at the 1st fret and .945” at the 12th. Both necks feature bound ebony fretboards, abalone dot inlay, and pristine stock medium jumbo fretwire. The scales are 24 3/4“ in length, and the carved bone nuts measure 1 11/16" in width. The headstocks are fitted with original gold Ibanez Smooth Tuner II tuning machines that hold their pitch well and turn very smoothly as their name would suggest. The serial number on the back of the 6 string headstock has an A83-prefix, translating to January of 1983.
All of the electronics work as intended, with full-size pots wired to the stock Super 58 humbuckers. Controls include a three-way toggle switch for neck selection and a Master Volume control. Each neck features a three-way pickup selector switch, Volume and Tone controls, and individual three-way mini “Tri-sound” toggles for each pickup. The gold-plated hardware includes a Gibraltor II bridge, cloud tailpieces, and delta strap buttons. The stock Sure Grip II knobs retain their rubber grips, and the cream plastic parts are clean. Cosmetic wear is limited to a cluster of small marks on the back at the treble-side waist, and a few minor marks on the body as a whole. Each neck sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.
The original brown tolex hardshell case is included with the Ibanez badge on the exterior, green form-fit plush interior, original latches, and handle.
