Up for sale, a 1983 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-65 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted early in the second year of Fender Japan production, this “Japanese Vintage” (JV) series guitar is a rare example produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, loaded with the same pickups used on the Fender USA Fullerton factory reissues from the same year.
Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard, yielding a balanced, clear natural acoustic quality and weighing 7lbs 12oz. True to vintage spec, the USA-made Fullerton era single coil pickups feature black bobbin flatwork, unbeveled staggered alnico magnets, and cloth-covered leads. Also of note, due to a running change in 1983 with the pickups in the 65 model tier, the Fullerton-made single coils were phased out within months after this guitar's production. The bridge pickup is sparkling and clear, while the neck pickup has ideal fullness and a chiming bell-like top end. The original three-way switch, if positioned carefully, can also access the thinned-out squawk and snap of the "in-between" settings. This ST62-65 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Olympic White finish includes faint buckle rash central to the back, limited dye bleed along the bass-side edge, and a number of minor dings on the body as a whole, most prominent on top at the lower bout and along the lower bout perimeter. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, with one small nick on the bass-side shoulder at fret 3 and a handful of shallow marks central to the carve behind frets 3-6 that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.
The original Fender faux leather gigbag is included.
