Up for sale, a 1983 Fender Jazzmaster ‘62 vintage reissue model JM66-70 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced in the second year of Fender Japan production, this extremely rare model was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market as part of the "Japanese Vintage" (JV) line which only lasted from 1982-84. Crafted years before this guitar was first officially offered in Fender Japan's 1986 catalog and designated as model JM66-70, this Jazzmaster is the earliest Fender Japan example we’ve ever had here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar.
Tonewoods comprise an alder body, maple neck, and an extremely dark, tight-grained rosewood fretboard, and this Jazzmaster weighs 8lbs 5oz. The single coil pickups offer plenty of sparkle and cut, and there is a range of defined and powerful tones between the two coils. Warmer, wooly sounds are engaged via the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn too. This JM66-70 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss Sunburst finish has a few finish chips along the perimeter and one on top at the arm contour, buckle rash across the back, and a number of dings and finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, with several shallow marks along the profile length that are not distracting to the palm while fretting. Additionally, there is a short split on the top edge of the headstock (in-line with the tuners) which has been professionally repaired.
A gigbag is included.
