Up for sale, a 1983 Fender JV ‘57 Stratocaster model ST57-65 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, finished in custom color Candy Apple Red. Crafted in the second year of Fender Japan production, this “Japanese Vintage” (JV) series guitar is a particularly rare example, loaded with the same pickups used on the Fender USA Fullerton factory reissues from the same year. The custom engraved “Fender Japan” brass neck plate is another rarity that sets this JV apart, and these custom plates were only seen in the first few years of Fender Japan.
Weighing 7lbs 6oz, tonewoods include an alder body and a one-piece maple neck. Extremely accurate to vintage spec, the USA-made Fullerton-era black bobbin single coils are a coveted set, delivering quintessential Strat chime and clarity, with a sweet sparkle at the bridge and a notably smooth treble response. There’s a woody chop on tap in the middle position with a bell-like top end and plenty of meat at the neck. This JV-era Stratocaster ST57-65 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
