Up for sale, a 1983 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-65 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in the second year of Fender Japan production, this “Japanese Vintage” (JV) series guitar is a particularly rare example, loaded with the same pickups used on the Fender USA Fullerton factory reissues from the same year.

Extremely accurate to vintage spec and sold only within Japan, this Strat has a resonant alder body paired with a maple neck and slab rosewood fretboard, yielding a balanced, clear natural acoustic quality that translates well through the pickups. As the factory sticker on the pickguard purports, the guitar is loaded with its original trio of USA-made Fullerton era single coils. True to vintage spec, these pickups feature black bobbin flatwork, unbeveled staggered alnico magnets, and cloth-covered leads. Also of note, due to a running change in 1983 with the pickups in the 65 model tier, the Fullerton-made single coils were phased out within months after this guitar's production. The bridge pickup is sparkling and clear, while the neck pickup has ideal fullness and a chiming bell-like top end. The original three-way switch, if positioned carefully, can also access the thinned-out squawk and snap of the "in-between" settings. This guitar weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Sunburst finish includes a small area of wear down to the alder on the bass-side waist at the belly contour, limited buckle worming and additional minor nicks on the back and lower bout body edge, and a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth, lightly ambered gloss on the neck profile is ngh-flawless and highlights subtle flame figuring in the maple.

A faux leather gigbag is included.
