Up for sale, a 1983 Fender Telecaster ‘52 vintage reissue model TL52-70 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A rare transitional model between the JV-serialized instruments and the early A-prefix serials, this Telecaster has the same Fender USA Fullerton factory pickups as the JV-serialized Teles that preceded them by a month or two. Built for the Japanese domestic market and select international territories, the TL52-70 Telecaster was made at the Fujigen factory, uncommon outside its country of origin.
Featherweight at only 6lbs 12oz, this guitar features an ash body and one-piece maple neck. Tonally, this Tele delivers everything you’d expect: fat and throaty in the neck position, chiming and cutting in the middle, and offering a chewy, snappy sparkle and twang at the bridge. This Telecaster TL52-70 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Butterscotch finish presents extremely cleanly, with some tiny dings and chips in the clear coat, chiefly on the treble-side lower bout edge, a handful of minor dings and scuffs on the back, and some cosmetic checking at the corners of the neck pocket. The gloss finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean, save for a few marks central to the carve behind the 2nd fret.
A Fender-branded padded gigbag is included.
