Up for sale, a 1983 ESP 400 Series ST465 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A one-owner instrument purchased new at Matt Umanov Guitars in Greenwich Village, NYC, the ESP 400 series guitars feature top-notch fit and finish work, faithfully capturing the look and sound of their American counterparts.
Tonewoods align with vintage Fender spec, and this ESP features an alder body and a maple neck capped with a slab rosewood fretboard. The original trio of LH800 pickups deliver a bevy of classic Strat-style tonalities: the bridge is spanky and clear, the neck has a bell-like girth, and the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch have a hollow quack. This ST465 weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .790” 1st fret, .875” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, 9 1/2“ radius
-Frets: Slender, hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: ESP Deluxe single line
-Serialization: Five-digit serial on neck plate, “Matt Umanov Guitars New York” decal on back of peghead
Body Specs:
-Wood: Alder
-Pickups: LH800 single coil x3
-Harness: Untouched solder, full-size Japanese pots
-Hardware: Six-point vibrato
-Plastics: Three-ply pickguard, knobs
Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to very minor buckle worming on the back and just a scant few minor marks on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile has been buffed to a fast-feeling semi-gloss through play and is nigh flawless.
The original hardshell case with black "rat fur" exterior is included.
