Up for sale, a 1982 Yamaha SG1500 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A rarer SG series Yamaha model, the SG1500 is unique for having two versions in its short production run, and this guitar's feature set represents the second iteration of the SG1500, offered from 1981-84.
This SG1500 sports Yamaha’s three-ply maple/mahogany neck through construction, patented as the T-Cross System, ensuring an incredibly stable, resonant, and tonally complex foundation for the instrument. Eschewing the maple top of the SG2000, the SG1500 has solid mahogany body wings, yielding a certain warmth and growl. The humbuckers are detailed and punchy with great harmonic complexity, and unlike earlier SG1500s, these pickups feature dedicated push/push coil splits on the Tone pots for single coil sparkle and snap. This SG1500 weighs 9lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple/mahogany “T-Cross”
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .825” 1st fret, .900” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, 16” radius, pearloid split-triangle inlays
-Frets: Medium jumbo, no wear
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”
-Tuners: Yamaha Japan-branded
-Serialization: Six-digit stamp on peghead
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple, mahogany
-Pickups: Humbucker x2, “57.7.8” date stamps on pickup baseplates translate to 57th year of Showa period (1982)
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone x2 (push/push coil taps), Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Adjusto-matic bridge, lyre-embossed stopbar

The gloss Persimmon Red finish has pick scuffing on top, shallow buckle rash on the back lower bout, and various dings and finish scratches consistent with use. The smooth gloss on the neck profile has only a couple minor dings and some faint scratches in the clear coat that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.
A hardshell case is included.
