Up for sale, 1982 Tokai Breezysound model TE55-N in excellent condition and in perfect working order, 100% original save for a new set of Kluson tuners. Made in Japan and a very early iteration of the Breezysound, this vintage guitar is a faithful, high-quality spin on the classic Fender Tele "Blackguard" platform. Featuring a premium ash body and a one-piece maple neck, this guitar delivers on its promise of classic Tele power and cut with the midrange heft and note attack inherent in the tonewood complement. Fat and throaty in the neck position, and offering chewy twang at the bridge via the flat pole alnico magnet single coil, this guitar covers all of the critical Tele bases. Weighing 8lbs 9oz, this Tokai has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, spot-on intonation, and low action. The one-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulder at the nut and more chunk further up the fretboard, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a 7 1/4” vintage-spec radius and retains the stock slender fretwire which has its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-13. This guitar plays cleanly in all registers up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The Tokai Breezysound waterslide decal is in great shape, and this early version of the model retains a more Fender-esque headstock shape. The tuners have been substituted with a brand new set of Klusons which have a very smooth and reliable response. All of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and the original single coil pair. The Tokai-embossed bridge has individual string saddles for optimal intonation, and the chrome hardware shows light surface patina on the bridge base, dome-top knurled knobs, and control plate. The transparent Butterscotch finish showcases the wood grain of the ash, accented by a one-ply black pickguard. Cosmetic wear includes some nicks and dings on the body, particularly concentrated on the back lower bout edge, with pick scuffing across the strum path and a patch of light buckle rash central to the waist on the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth with just one small ding behind the 6th fret.A Tokai-branded padded gigbag is included.
