Up for sale, a 1982 Peavey T-45 bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded hardshell “contour” case. First introduced in 1982 and discontinued in 1986, this USA-made, single-pickup iteration of the iconic T-40 platform delivers the versatility and quality craftsmanship that die-hard Peavey fans around the world have come to know and love.

Tonewoods include an ash body, maple neck, and thick slab dark rosewood fretboard, and at 10lbs 6oz this bass has ample natural sustain and resonance, faithfully captured by the stock blade humbucker. This humbucker is punchy and bold; with ample low end heft and thump, a warm midrange, and crisp trebles that offer excellent articulation. The unique Mid-Frequency Rolloff control (later renamed to Low-Frequency) allows the pickup to be sonically reshaped for a brighter single coil-style sound. This Peavey has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulders at the nut, gaining appreciable more heft and roundness in the upper registers, measuring .775” deep at the 1st fret and .970” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard is a notably dark and tight-grained cut, and the stock medium jumbo fretwire has well-rounded crowns with moderate wear beneath the strings on frets 1-10. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight “pre-stressed” neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the stock bone nut measures 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the chrome-plated tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the blade humbucker governed by Master Volume and Tone controls, along with the Mid-Frequency Rolloff knob. The harness features aluminum shielding, with two modern replacement pots. The original P-topped knobs are present, with ridged grips for easy on-the-fly swells and adjustments, and the “Made in USA” bridge and large block saddles still have plenty of shine with just a touch of surface patina.

The gloss Royal Burgundy finish is dark and rich, with cosmetic wear including a number of dings along the lower bout perimeter, an area of buckle rash on the back central to the waist, some scuffing on the treble side of the strum path, and a handful of minor nicks and faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with some shallow marks along the profile length, mostly concentrated on the bass-side shoulder at frets 6-9, that have no impact on playability.

The original Peavey-branded molded hardshell “contour” case is included.
