Up for sale, a 1982 Fender '62 Stratocaster model ST62-65 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced in the very first months of Fender Japan production with a low JV0-prefix serial number, this “Japanese Vintage” series guitar features the same pickups used on the Fender USA Fullerton factory reissues from the same year.
Extremely accurate to vintage spec and sold only within Japan and to select international territories, tonewoods include an alder body and a one-piece maple neck. The USA-made Fullerton-era pickups are a set of the coveted red bobbins, delivering an array of vital Strat tonalities with plenty of chime and clarity.
The bridge pickup has a bouncy sparkle and clear note attack, the neck is fat with a woody chop, while the “in-between” positions on the three-way pickup selector switch yield great chirp and honk. This JV-era Stratocaster ST62-65 weighs 8lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
