Up for sale, a 1982 Epiphone Casino in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced in Japan at the Matsumoku factory, this Casino is a rare and early Epiphone reissue produced decades before the “Elitist” line was introduced.
This Casino has a smooth and lively acoustic tone with plenty of warmth faithfully captured by the stock Maxon-made dogear P-90 pickups. The pickups have the midrange bark and percussive cut associated with P-90s; a dynamic, glassy snap in the top end; and a broad bass register when overdriven. Offering a refinement far beyond most modern Casino reissues, this vintage Japanese iteration is simply a compelling, easy-playing guitar. Featherweight at 6lbs 2oz, this Casino has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .795” 1st fret, .999” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Bound rosewood, parallelogram inlay
-Frets: Medium jumbo, no wear
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
-Tuners: Epiphone-branded, Gotoh
-Serialization: 2-prefix inked serial (dates to 1982)
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Pickups: P-90 x2
-Harness: Volume x2, Tone x2, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: ABR-1 bridge, trapeze tailpiece (nickel-plated)
-Plastics: Reflector cap knobs, three-ply pickguard with silkscreen “E” Epsilon
The Sunburst gloss finish highlights birdseye figuring in the maple (most prominent on the back), and cosmetic wear is limited to a bit of checking along the ambered body binding and a few small nicks and scuffs on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back. The neck profile retains its gloss, with one small nick on the bass-side shoulder behind fret 5.
The original hardshell case is included.
