Up for sale, a 1981 Tokai SS70 Limited Edition model in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This rare Tokai, only produced from 1980-82, mirrors the features and aesthetics of Fender’s Dan Smith-inspired “The Strat,” featuring a Light Blue finish with matching headstock, gold-plated hardware, and a trio of U-stamped gray bobbin single coil pickups.
The tonewood complement comprises an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard, and coupled with the solid brass bridge's substantial string anchor, the acoustic tone is authoritative and balanced with excellent sustain. The original trio of gray bobbin pickups are sparkling and and lively, responsive to picking dynamics with a certain midrange heft and punch, particularly in the neck and middle positions. A Strat-style quack can be achieved on the “in-between” positions via the five-way pickup selector. This Tokai weighs 8lbs 6oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Light Blue finish falls in-between Lake Placid Blue and Ice Blue Metallic, extremely faithful to the shade of blue utilized by Fender on their "The Strat" model. Cosmetic wear includes some minor dings on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and body perimeter, as well as some light, localized buckle wear at the belly contour. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.
A modern Tokai padded gigbag is included.
