Up for sale, a 1981 Tokai Springy Sound ST60 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. One of the more storied vintage Japanese Strat-style guitars, the Springy Sound models were celebrated upon their introduction as a faithful, high-quality spin on the classic Fender platform, even finding their way into the hands of players like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Billy Gibbons. Produced from 1978-83, this Springy Sound features a 1960s aesthetic with a small Pre-CBS style headstock shape, three-ply pickguard, Kluson Deluxe-style single line tuners, and a gloss Metallic Blue (Lake Placid) finish.
Weighing 7lbs 13oz, this ST60 boasts the classic tonewood combination of an alder body and a maple neck capped by a rosewood fingerboard, producing a clear, defined acoustic voice that translates well through the original trio of gray bobbin, βEβ-stamped alnico magnet single coil pickups. All three pickups meter ~6k ohms, delivering chewy snap and sparkle with a round-sounding neck pickup and plenty of sparkling cut in the bridge position. This Springy Sound ST60 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mikeβs Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
