Up for sale, a 1981 Tokai Breezysound model TE55-N in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Crafted in Japan during the golden age of “lawsuit” era production, this Breezysound is Tokai’s take on Fender’s classic ‘50s-spec “Blackguard" Tele.
Traditional tonewoods include an ash body and a one-piece maple neck, and this TE55-N has a clear, ringing acoustic quality with a nice kick in the midrange. The single coils deliver quintessential Tele percussive cut and twang, with broader, smoother sounds at the neck and focused punch and sparkle at the bridge. This TE55-N weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .825” 1st fret, .900” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Maple, vintage-spec 7 ¼” radius
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 ½”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style single-line
-Serialization: 1-prefix (1981 production)
Body Specs:
-Wood: Ash
-Pickups: Single coil x2
-Controls: Volume, Tone, Three-way pickup selector
-Harness: Full-size Japanese pots
-Hardware: Six-saddle “Tokai”-stamped bridge, knurled knobs
-Plastics: Five-screw one-ply black pickguard, “top hat” switch tip
The gloss Butterscotch finish has light buckle worming central to the back, pick scuffing across the strum path, and some small dings and finish scratches. The ambered gloss on the neck profile shows no wear.
A brown hardshell case with black leather ends and pink interior is included.
