Up for sale, a 1981 Rhodes Mk II Stage 73, near-mint and in perfect working order. Stunningly clean and complete with the original legs, braces, sustain pedal and factory paperwork, this piano is a reliable stage and studio instrument with great action and a range of classic Rhodes tonalities.

An extension of the Mk I Rhodes sound with a redesigned action assembly and flat molded harp cover, this Rhodes has a dynamic response and warm overarching tone, offering a perfect blend of midrange fullness and top end chime. This piano has been professionally tuned and voiced, with smooth transitions from the lower, growly bass octaves to the bell-like notes in the highest registers. The middle octaves are voiced slightly favoring the harmonic overtones, which keeps complex chord voicings clear and balanced. The low end ranges from mellow, round bass notes with a soft touch to the famous Rhodes growl when digging in.

The action is quick and consistent, representative of the feel of the Mk II pianos, and since the action assembly is plastic, there's no danger of key bushings wearing out and growing either tight or loose over time. The harp is extremely clean with bright tone bars and tines, and the original hammer tips and damper felts show virtually no wear. The bold date stamp in the upper right corner of the harp translates to the 20th week of 1981. Solder joints are untouched on the wiring harness, and the CTS pots date to the 21st week of '81.

The original smooth black tolex is as clean as they come, the key caps are bright white, and the namerail retains the original small Rhodes logo. The control plate has the original skirted knobs, and on the back of the piano, the large Rhodes logo has some light scuffing and is missing part of the "S." The original hardware shows light surface patina on the nickel-plated corners, latches, and handle caps.

The piano is complete with the original latching lid, chrome-plated legs and braces, the original sustain pedal, and factory paperwork.
