Up for sale, a 1981 Aria Pro II SH-1000 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. Exceedingly rare, this premium Aria Pro II model was crafted at the Matsumoku factory in Japan, designed by their top luthier Nobuaki Hayashi (H. Noble).
This Aria features five-ply maple/walnut neck through construction paired with carved/chambered ash body wings, and a slab ebony fingerboard, ensuring a rich, textured natural response with excellent sustain and articulation. Plugged in, the stock active MH-1 humbuckers are powered by an 18v preamp, delivering a full spectrum response. The neck pickup is bold and beefy, while the bridge is biting and focused. Via the 3-way Mode selector mini toggle the Bright mode (up) is treble focused, magnifying note attack, while switching to Normal mode (center) has great clarity and percussive cut. Mild mode (down position) enriches mid & bass response. This SH-1000 weighs 8lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, accurate intonation, and comfortable action.
The five-ply maple/walnut neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .800“ deep at the 1st fret and .910” at the 12th. The slab ebony fretboard features mother of pearl dot inlay and stock jumbo fretwire. The frets have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly in every register up the straight neck with an optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 24 3/4“, and the brass nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. The headstock features an ash veneer and original chrome Aria Pro II tuners with pearloid keystone buttons that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
On the body, the stock electronics work as they should, with a 3-way pickup selector toggle, 3-way Mode mini toggle, and Master Volume and Tone controls. The original pair of knobs is intact, along with the premium chrome-plated Supermatic bridge. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few finish scratches in the gloss finish, and a few minuscule marks in the clear coat on the back treble side lower bout edge. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.
The original hardshell case is included, along with the original Aria manual and tuner leaflet.
