Up for sale, a 1981 Aria Pro II Rev-Sound model RS-850 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced at the Matsumoku factory in Japan, this Rev-Sound Aria Pro features neck-through construction with a seven-ply maple/walnut neck, ash body wings with a maple core, and a rosewood fretboard. The neck-through construction offers excellent natural sustain and resonance, and the midrange complexity and heft of the ash body is faithfully captured by the stock trio of RSP-2 single coil pickups.
There’s plenty of single coil snap and sparkle on tap, and this Aria Pro II features active electronics, delivering a vast array of tonalities. The middle pickup has a “slave” design, built to complement the bridge and neck pickups (it doesn’t function independently on the three-way rotary pickup selector), enabling humbucker-esque fullness or slinky phase sounds. The three-position “Q” mini-toggles dictate the function of the the corresponding Tone knobs (independent toggle and knob for each pickup): in Position 1, they function as a standard passive treble roll-off, in Position 2, they add more warmth and richness when dialed up, and in Position 3 they kick the pickups into high gear with a sharper, crisper quality. Additionally, in Position 3 the knobs have a filter effect when adjusted, perfect for cocked wah-style sounds. This Aria Pro II weighs 7lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
