Up for sale, a 1980's Yamaha Session II 812 electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Spotted in the 1987 catalog, this rare Yamaha model was crafted in Japan and is seldom seen outside its country of origin. Featuring gold hardware, a gloss Pearl White finish, a HSS pickup configuration, and locking vibrato, this guitar is engineered for shred and sonic versatility. The stock alnico magnet single coil pickups with large staggered pole pieces deliver big, bold, snappy punch, while the scorching humbucker in the bridge position has aggressive cut, perfect for high gain situations. This Yamaha weighs 8lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a rounded medium C shaped profile with rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features a 13.75" radius, pearl dot inlay, and pristine stock slender fretwire. The guitar plays effortlessly in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod, and the “Super Playability Joint System” ensures easy access to the highest frets. The scale length is a full 25 1/2“, and the nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The headstock features a locking nut, universal string retainer, and gold set of Yamaha-branded tuners, all designed for optimal tuning stability.

On the body, the electronics function accordingly, with a five-way pickup selector blade switch, Master Volume, neck Tone, and push/pull Bi-Sound Tone control for the middle and bridge positions. The locking trem system allows for deep dives and expressive bends, jumping back to the original pitch with a fluid ease. All of the original gold hardware is intact, with patina in the plating, particularly on the bridge. The top features cream multi-ply binding, framing the gloss Pearl White finish. Cosmetic wear is limited to marks and scuffs mostly relegated to the lower bout body edge, with a bit of finish checking at the edge of the neck pocket. The neck profile sports a clean original gloss finish with a few minuscule marks that are not distracting to the palm.
