Up for sale, a 1980s Roland TR-606 Drumatix programmable drum machine in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Originally released in 1982 as a companion to the TB-303 bass synth. The TR-606 took on a life of its own amongst DIY musicians thanks to its portable form factor, accessibility, and low initial price point, not to mention the distinctive, punchy analog sounds it produces. Despite being discontinued in 1984, the TR-606 has since become a beloved cult classic and been used by artists ranging from Nine Inch Nails to RZA to Aphex Twin. The TR-606 has seven analog drum sounds: Bass, Snare, Low Tom, High Tom, Cymbal, and Open and Closed Hihat, along with an independent Accent channel. There are six knobs to control each channel output (Toms and Hihats are combined). There are 16 programmable steps at the sequencer, and the Scale selector determines the number of steps allocated to each quarter note beat. The TR-606 can switch between Pattern Play and Write modes while operating, making it one of Roland’s only early drum machines able to be edited during performance. There are Master Tempo and Volume controls, the latter of which also functions as the unit On/Off switch. The Roland TR-606 has a Mono (and frequently modded) output alongside a Headphone out and a pair of Trigger Outs (LT and HT) to allow for tandem synchronized usage with other units and synths. Further jacks include a DIN sync with Input/Output switch, and a Run/Stop input for an optional external Roland DP-2 damper pedal (not included).
