Up for sale, a 1980's Morris W-100D dreadnought acoustic guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition, complete with the original hardshell case. A signature model for Takao Horiuchi of the legendary folk group "Alice," the W-100D is an expertly crafted dreadnought produced in Japan with fit and finish work befitting a high-end Martin. The W-100D features a solid spruce top, jacaranda (Bolivian rosewood) back and sides, and a unique three-piece back with a central third of figured chestnut. Ornate cosmetic appointments include an elaborate abalone vine inlay pattern up the ebony fretboard, and abalone top, rosette, and headstock binding in-line with a D-45. The guitar yields the rich, defined sound one expects from the tonewood complement of rosewood, ebony, and an X-braced spruce top, achieving the tonal equilibrium only a true vintage instrument can deliver. The sound is well-balanced and dynamically responsive, with a full, textured low end with plenty of boom and kick, a singing midrange, and a present top that offers a choice blend of definition and smoothness. This W-100D weighs 5lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and fresh 12-53 phosphor bronze strings.

The mahogany neck has a full V-shaped profile carve, measuring .895” deep at the 1st fret and 1.010” at the 9th. The bound ebony fretboard features abalone vine inlay and pristine slender fretwire. The scale length is 25 5/8", and the nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The abalone bound jacaranda headstock veneer features a vertical TF Morris inlay and gold set of Morris tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well, along with a distinctive Martin-style diamond-shaped volute.

On the body, the ebony bridge sits flush with the spruce top on all edges, and the saddle has plenty of height, with room for future adjustment. The top is framed by abalone binding that wraps the fretboard extension and extends to the rosette, and additional abalone binding frames the sides as well. The guitar is crack-free, and cosmetic wear is limited to light scuffing in the pick path, light marks mostly on the lower bout on top, a couple isolated spots of finish checking, and a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss. The neck sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.

The original hardshell case is included.
