Up for sale, a 1980's Fernandes FPB-120 Power Bass in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A virtually unseen model crafted in Japan, this Fernandes features a unique tonewood complement with a solid koa body paired with a one-piece maple neck and gloss Walnut finish. Weighing 8lbs 13oz and featuring solid brass saddles and a brass nut, the bass delivers a big, bold, punchy tone, with the sweet midrange growl of koa and the authority and top end cut of the maple fretboard and brass hardware. Strung with 45-100 roundwound strings, the instrument delivers rich, layered tones that sustain beautifully. Roll the Tone knob back and the sound fattens up with traditional P-Bass thump that's broad and full, while still retaining a certain top end articulation. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Fernandes with comfortable action and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a chunky C-shaped  profile carve with full shoulders and rolled fretboard edges, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and .965" at the 12th. The maple fretboard features practically perfect medium jumbo frets, playing cleanly up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original brass nut measures 1.670" in width (just shy of 1 11/16"). The headstock features Fernandes' "stone" logo, and the original gold-plated clover button tuners are finely crafted gears, turning smoothly and holding pitch as intended. The stock electronics function as they should, and hardware includes original domed knurled brass knobs and an overbuilt brass bridge with imposing saddles. The original gold guard is a close match for Fender's late '50s anodized aluminum guards, also providing the benefit of excellent shielding for an ideal noise floor. The Walnut finish highlights the grain of the koa, and there's also some subtle flame figuring in this tonewood. Cosmetic wear includes buckle rash central to the back and a few additional nicks on the back and body perimeter, while the neck profile retains its smooth gloss. The original form-fit faux leather gigbag is included.
