Up for sale, a 1980's Fender Telecaster Custom '62 vintage reissue model TL62B in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This "Made in Japan" Telecaster was produced at the Fujigen factory in the golden age of Fender Japan production, notably rare and featuring a full compliment of original gold hardware. This guitar features a gloss Black finish framed by white binding on the top and back of the instrument, accented by a '50s-style single-ply black pickguard. The guitar retains its stock neck position single coil which offers plenty of cut and bell-like chime, while the upgraded Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound single coil in the bridge has a custom overwound coil providing a powerful midrange character that cuts through any mix without sounding bright or brash. This pickup is ideal for huge sounding chords and full, fat lead tones, constructed with hand-polished 1/4” diameter alnico V rod magnets for an almost P90-like growl. This Tele weighs 7lbs 12oz and has a clear, smooth acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Tele is strung with 10-46 strings and dialed in for low action. The one-piece maple neck has a slender C profile carve, effortless and fast-feeling with modest shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .800” deep at the 1st fret and .900” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard is a particularly thick cut of this tonewood, with original slender frets that show only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4 and virtually no wear further up the fingerboard. The guitar plays easily in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original carved bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width, ensuring optimal note clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the gold Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The small "Made in Japan" text is present just above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as they should, and gold hardware includes the original gold-plated string ferrules, modern-style six-saddle bridge, electrosocket jack cup, control plate, F neck plate and pair of knurled knobs, all of which show light surface patina. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to light pick scuffing across the guard, some scattered dings and scuffs on the back, and some additional small marks and one finish chip on the lower bout on top. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile also shows just a few tiny marks which aren't distracting to the palm while fretting. This Tele is a very rare model given the full gold hardware compliment, crafted to Fender Japan's uncompromising standards for tone and feel.
