Up for sale, a 1980s ESP 400 Series S-style model in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. The 400 Series guitars are highly regarded, crafted in Japan and featuring top-notch fit and finish work, faithfully capturing the cosmetics and tonal attributes of their American counterparts. This particular example of ESP’s take on the Stratocaster platform has been upgraded with a set of Fender's American Vintage 57/62 single coils, complete with a modern wiring harness.
Fender's American Vintage 57/62 pickups are true to vintage spec, with black fiber bobbins, push-back cloth-covered leads, and staggered alnico pole pieces. These pickups deliver quintessential Fender shimmer and snap, with a sweet upper midrange authority at the bridge, percussive cut and chime at the neck, and hollow quack at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This ESP 400 Series has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Candy Apple Red finish is rich and vibrant, and cosmetic wear includes buckle rash across the back, scuffing from wrist jewelry on top adjacent to the bridge, and some minor dings on the body as a whole, largely concentrated at the lower bout. The smooth finish on the neck profile highlights subtle flame figuring in the maple, with a few shallow marks along the profile length.
A modern ESP hardshell case is included.
