Up for sale, a 1980s Ensoniq Mirage DSK-8 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell flight case and the original paperwork. Introduced in 1984 as Ensoniq’s first commercial product, the Mirage was also one of the first affordable quality synthesizers available to the average musician. The Mirage is an eight-voice digital sampling keyboard with MIDI capabilities, combining the complexity and accuracy of digital sounds with an analog synthesizer section, providing programmable control over filtering, envelops, and modulation. Digital sounds can be tailored to the player’s taste while the velocity-sensitive keyboard adds dimension to creative expression. This is the second iteration of the DSK-8, featuring an improved weighted Fatar keyboard with 61 keys. A built-in floppy disk drive is used to load and store samples and sequences for easy access, while sample editing is accomplished via hexadecimal-code manipulation. For the studious artist, the Advanced Sampler’s Guide is included for an in-depth journey into sound creation with the Mirage. The low bitrate imparts a distinctive quality to the Mirage’s sound that has become sought after in recent years by producers looking for a synth that stands out in the mix with a unique, gritty character.Cosmetically, this Mirage is exceptionally clean with just a few requisite scuffs on the enclosure. A road case and the original paperwork are included.
