Up for sale, a late 1980s Charvel Spectrum Model 8M in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A fairly rare entry into Charvel's Japanese made Model series, the Spectrum 8M was made at the Chu Shin factory, and this top-notch Charvel features a bolt-on quartersawn rock maple neck, a thick slab 22 fret maple fingerboard with jumbo fretwire, and a basswood body. The original trio of Jackson-branded J200 stacked single coils deliver a range of clear, bright, and punchy tones via the five-way pickup selector switch. This Charvel also boasts an active JE-1500 boost circuit, powered by a 9v battery, and this particularly aggressive treble/midrange boost engages via the discreet two-way mini toggle between the knobs, with a trim pot on the circuit board to dial in the effet to taste. The guitar weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and a bit of faint palm wear through the finish on the lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .720" deep at the 1st fret and .860" at the 12th. The slab maple 22 fret fretboard has a compound 12-16” radius, dot inlay, and original jumbo fretwire which has plenty of meat and crown. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The scale length measures 25 1/2“, and the locking nut measures 1 5/8" (41mm) in width, holding pitch exceptionally well against the most dynamic of dives with the stock JT-6 Floyd Rose Licensed tremolo. On the reverse headstock, the original chrome Jackson-branded Gotoh-made tuners are present and turn smoothly along with the original pair of Allen wrenches. The "Made in Japan" foil sticker is intact above the four-bolt Charvel-embossed serialized neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended, with the stock J200 coils wired to a five-way switch, Master Volume and Tone knobs, and a two-way mini toggle to engage the active boost. The chrome plating on the hardware is positively gleaming, and the Charvel-branded JT-6 Floyd Rose retains its original arm, actuating easily for sharp flutters and deep divebombs. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to one touched-up minor finish chip on the back treble-side lower bout edge, and just a few additional faint finish scratches and minor marks on the body as a whole. The satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.A modern upgraded Coffin hardshell case is included (this model was originally offered with a gigbag when sold new).
