Up for sale, a 1980s Charvel by Jackson Model 3A vintage electric guitar in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with an upgraded SKB hardshell case. The renowned Model series was introduced in 1986 and marked an era of high-quality, competitive shredders. Produced at the Chu Shin factory in Japan, this top-notch Charvel features a bolt-on quartersawn rock maple neck, a thick slab 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, and a basswood body. The pickups are the stock pair of ultra high-output Jackson J80C humbuckers with accentuated upper harmonics for defined distortion and cutting clarity. The pickups are coupled to a five-way super switch, offering coil tapped options in positions 2 and 4 (both back coils in position 2, both forward coils in position 4). Weighing 8lbs 7oz, this Model 3A has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, spot-on intonation and fast action. The quatersawn rock maple neck has a fast-feeling and slender D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .755” deep at the 1st fret and .870” at the 12th. The slab rosewood 22 fret fretboard has a compound 12-16” radius, dot inlay, and original jumbo fretwire which has plenty of meat and crown, showing virtually no wear. The scale measures 25 1/2“ in length, and the graphite nut measures 1 11/16” in width just forward of the locking nut, holding pitch exceptionally well against the most dynamic of dives with the stock Kahler Fulcrum tremolo system. On the headstock, the original black Jackson-branded Gotoh-made tuners are present and turn smoothly. All of the electronics work as they should, with a Volume knob, Tone knob, and five-way pickup selector switch controlling the Jackson HH pickup array. The Kahler Fulcrum tremolo has brass roller saddles and is complete with the original arm, actuating easily for expressive dives. A pair of knurled knobs rounds out the hardware. The Red gloss finish shows some scattered minor marks and light finish scratches on the body as a whole, with prominent strum wear across the pickguard and extending above it at the bass-side waist. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss.A modern SKB hardshell case is included.
