Up for sale, a 1980's Charvel by Jackson Model 4M vintage electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made at the Chu Shin factory in Japan and sold exclusively to the Japanese domestic market, the Model 4M is built for shred with a quartersawn rock maple neck, maple fingerboard, and a basswood body. The pickup complement includes a Jackson J50BC ceramic magnet humbucker in the bridge position, and two J200 stacked single coils in the middle and neck. Paired with the Model 4M's active circuitry, and featuring individual on/off toggles for each pickup yielding maximum tonal versatility, this Model 4M offers crisp, authoritative cleans and is punchy and tight in high-gain scenarios. Weighing 8lbs 3oz, this Charvel has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, spot-on intonation, and fast action.
The quatersawn rock maple neck has a slender and fast-feeling D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and rolled fretboard edges, measuring .765” deep at the 1st fret and .865” at the 12th. The maple fretboard features black dot inlay and original jumbo fretwire. The frets have tons of meat and crown, with light uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-4, extending faintly beneath the B string until fret 10. The guitar plays cleanly in every register with a 12-16” compound fretboard radius, and the scale length measures 25 1/2“. The graphite nut measures 1 5/8" in width, just forward of the locking nut, ensuring ideal stability against the most dynamic of dives with the Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo system. On the black headstock, the original black Jackson-branded Gotoh-made tuners are present and turn smoothly.
All of the electronics work as they should, with Master Volume and Tone knobs as well as a Mid Boost knob, with individual on/off mini toggles for each pickup. Cosmetic wear on the Black gloss finish is limited scuffing on the treble side of the pick path, a few marks of note near the input jack, and faint scuffs and finish scratches mostly relegated to the lower bout. The gloss neck profile finish is extremely clean and smooth.
