Up for sale, a 1980's B.C. Rich Japan Edition Mockingbird in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. A rare Japanese domestic market bolt-on neck iteration of the Mockingbird platform with streamlined controls, this Mockingbird features a Black gloss finish, traditional 3x3 headstock, hardtail wraparound bridge, and a pair of humbuckers engineered for high gain. The pickups are modeled after the Dimarzio Super Distortion with a high output ceramic magnet design engineered to provide a range of roaring tonalities with ample output and midrange push, metering at 13.5k ohms each. This Mockingbird weighs 9lbs 13oz, and we've had the guitar professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a slender C profile carve with rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features pearloid dot inlay and stock medium jumbo fretwire. The frets have plenty of meat, showing only light uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, extending exclusively beneath the plain strings to fret 5, with virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The neck is straight and truss rod optimally adjusted, with effortless playability up the 25 1/2" scale. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the “R” logo is cleanly inlaid, and the chrome Schaller-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

The electronics function as intended, with a trio of knurled black knobs and a three-way pickup selector toggle. The chrome wraparound bridge shows light patina with individually adjustable saddles for optimal intonation. Cosmetic wear is limited to scuffing in the pick path and light finish scratches on the gloss Black finish, with a couple tiny finish chips on the tip of the treble side body horn. Aside from a few minuscule marks behind fret 1, the neck sports a pristine smooth gloss finish on the profile.

The original B.C. Rich-branded gigbag is included.
