Up for sale, a 1980 Greco Super Real JM700 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This rare “lawsuit era” Greco is the direct precursor to official Fender Japan production, crafted the Fujigen factory just two years before that factory was awarded the contract to make genuine Fender instruments. Only mentioned in one Greco catalog, the JM700 is an extremely well-crafted Jazzmaster-style instrument with unique features that set it aside from early Fender Japan production including a quartersawn maple neck with a V-shaped profile carve and full 1 11/16" nut width, an ash body, and pickups wound hotter than later Fender Japan equivalents, adhering much closer to '60s Jazzmaster pickup winds.

Extremely lightweight for a Jazzmaster-style instrument at only 7lbs 7oz, this JM700 has plenty of midrange detail, lively treble cut and focused low end, and these naturally resonant qualities translate faithfully through the pickup pair. Wound at ~9k ohms, the alnico magnet pickups offer plenty of sparkle and cut, with a notably smooth, punchy quality. And even warmer, woolier sounds are on tap via the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. This JM700 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
